June is Pride Month, and here at Full Moon Fiction, we're celebrating with a writing challenge!

Stories have always been a way for people to find themselves, connect with others, and imagine brighter futures. This month, we're inviting writers to explore themes of identity, belonging, love, friendship, and found family through a short flash fiction contest.

The Prompt

Write a story about finding a place where you finally belong.

Your story can be heartwarming, heartbreaking, funny, romantic, spooky, fantastical, or anything in between. We encourage writers to interpret the prompt in whatever way inspires them.

Contest Rules

  • Maximum 1,000 words

  • Must include at least one LGBTQIA+ character

  • All genres are welcome

  • Entries must be original work created by the submitting author

  • One entry per person

Prize

One randomly selected participant will receive a Full Moon Fiction Blind Bag filled with bookish surprises and writerly goodies.

How to Enter

Submit your story by emailing it to katelynn@fullmoonfiction.com.

Deadline: June 30 at 11:59 PM EST

A Few Ideas to Get You Started

  • A teenager discovers a community they've been searching for.

  • A traveler arrives in a town where everyone knows their name.

  • A group of strangers becomes a family during a crisis.

  • A fantasy hero finds acceptance among dragons instead of humans.

  • A haunted house becomes the safest place someone has ever known.

  • Two people reconnect during a Pride celebration years after losing touch.

Of course, these are only suggestions. The best stories are often the ones only you can tell.

We can't wait to see where your imagination takes you this month. Happy writing, and happy Pride! 🌈🌙
