BUILD YOUR STORY'S MOODBOARD

Red Text Design_edited.png

What is a moodboard? It's a collection of images that explains the vibes, aesthetic, characters, and locations within your world.

In my new book, The Messy Writer, I discuss how creating moodboards can help you stay focused on your story. It can also help you continue creating and working on your story during times of low-energy, busy schedules, or phsyical ailments.

This is the moodboard I created while working on The Messy Writer. It kept me going even on days where I was struggling to write.

And here's what I'm collecting for the

fiction project I'm working on.

The 20-Minute Challenge

Red Text Design_edited.png

Now that you've seen what I've put together, it's time to take the 20-Minute Moodboard Challenge. Here are the steps!

01.

Open Pinterest. Create a new board. Give it the same title as your current project.

02.

Set a timer for 20 minutes.

03.

Look for anything that connects to your story. The goal isn't to create something perfect. Instead, you should add anything that makes you think of your story. (There are tips down below!)

Places: Houses, bedrooms, forests, streets, restaurants, offices, abandoned buildings.

Atmosphere: Lighting, weather, colors, textures, seasons, time of day.

Objects: Cars, jewelry, weapons, furniture, books, food, photographs, weird little things your characters might keep in their pockets.

Don't overthink it. If it makes you think of your story, pin it.
