A good horror story doesn’t need pages of buildup to unsettle you. Sometimes, all it takes is a single eerie image—a moment that lingers, festers, and refuses to let go. That’s where two-sentence horror shines. It’s quick, punchy, and, if done right, leaves a mark long after you’ve read it.
Every other month, I’ll be dropping a fresh batch of prompts designed to spark your next bite-sized nightmare. If one of them twists into something truly chilling, you can submit your story for a chance to be featured in the Reader Spotlight. (Check the rules on the submissions page!)
This Month’s Prompts:
Phantom radio
Mirror grin
Annual funeral
Handwritten warning
Not my mom
Deleted number
Blinking closer
Lit window
Sealed locket
Forgotten stranger
The rules are simple: Choose a prompt, shape it into a two-sentence horror story, and send it in.
So go on—give us something to haunt our dreams.
